pjamAug 08.2014 2014 Mexico Mission - Day 4

Hello Church! Praise the Lord for the divine appointments that He has given us today. We had a full day filled with ministry opportunities at the children's hospital and fellowship with one another. We started the day with the group devotional as usual. Soon after the group morning devotional, we grabbed the gift bag that we made for the children the day before. We filled the colorful bags with small things such as balls, stamps, stickers, bubble, light-up sticks, inflatable toy hammer, box of crayon, notebooks and the four spiritual law gospel track printed in Spanish and English. With these bags in hand, we rode the bus to a large general hospital. We were actually supposed to go to another hospital that the church had visited before but at the last minute it did not work out. God had different plans in mind. This ministry opportunity opened up because of a connection that the church member had with one of the chief nurse working at this hospital. We were told that we would not be able to share the gospel or be able to pray for the children, but Praise The Lord!! We were able to share God's Word with the children, parents and staff. After sharing of God's Word, each of our youth gave a bag of goodies to the children. I'm not sure if our youth were prepared to encounter what they saw - the young hospitalized children. Most of our youth really tried to connect with the children even with their limited Spanish. As I looked at them, I really saw Christ's love being displayed through our youth. Smile that we left on a boy and a mother's faces. :) Andrew, who is fluent in Spanish, was able to share the gospel track and pray with him. Some of our adults were able to share and pray with the staff and parents as well. One of the hospital staff was moved to tears by our heart-felt prayers for the children and family. For us, we were thankful that God gave us this opportunity to witness Christ's work through us. We were so thankful for this divine appointment. We were so thankful that God used us to bring even the smallest of smiles and to bring hope through prayer. Pastor Jae and I could not help but realize, why can we not do this at home? Once again we are realizing that mission is not somewhere far away, but mission is HERE and NOW. Our mission field is where we live. It is Bay Area. Prayer Request 1) We will be traveling early tomorrow to a tourist spot about a hour away. There we will be hiking up for about an hour to see the ruins. After coming back down, we are going to do our gospel presentations and we will be sending the students out with the gospel tracks to share with whoever is there. Typically we need a permit to do this, but we are going to prayerfully go ahead and step out in faith. Please pray that the officials would look favorably. Please pray that God will use the gospel presentations. Please pray for more of God's divine appointments. 2) Please pray for my shoulder (Pastor Jamie). I slept wrong last night and my mobility is severely limited along with very sharp and stiff pain.

pjamAug 07.2014 2014 Mexico Mission - Day 3

Hello Church! Before coming to Mexico, we were told by the missionary to pray for the weather because it has been raining every day. With outdoor gospel presentations and evangelisms planned out, we have been praying for the weather for more than a month now. Today's agenda was to go to the city square to do our gospel presentation in the form of drama/body worship and give free hugs to people with the hopes that God's love will be shared. Praise the Lord for great weather!! All the heavy rain came during the night and we had AMAZING weather today. All in all, doing outreach together with the local youth have brought them closer together. The bus ride to the city square and the bus ride back to church was drastically different in decibel level. Praise the Lord for bringing two different cultures and languages together under the purpose and works of His kingdom!! Here are few pictures from today! Starting the day with worship. Body Worship to Jesus You Alone in a crowded city square. Gospel Presentation using the song We Are The Reason. Even after having seen this many times, I was moved to tears by the fact that the gospel was being proclaimed in the public square where many do not believe in Jesus Christ. After the presentations, we divided up into smaller groups and went to give free hugs to people with the message, "God loves You!" This is the large group picture taken after the one hour of free hugs (Not all the small groups came back on time. They were busy hugging more people). You can see the joy of uniting together under a common purpose. This is how some of the team members unwinded after a long day. Prayer Answered and Requests 1) Thank you for all the prayers for our health! No one is sick! 2) We are visiting the children's hospital tomorrow with small gifts to encourage them and pray for them. Please pray that we will be Christ's Presence to everyone that we encounter. 3) Please continue to pray for the unity between the two youth groups. Pray that we will be able to encourage them in the Lord. God has been teaching us so clearly that mission doesn't have to be far. Mission is HERE and NOW. Pray that the local youth group here will also understand that truth - that their mission field is HERE and NOW - so that they will be EMPOWERED by God to be AMBASSADORS for Christ here in Cuernavaca.

pjamAug 06.2014 2014 Mexico Mission - Day 1 & Day 2

Hello Church! Greetings from Cuernavaca Mexico! Day 1 - Oakland Airport to Mexico City to Cuernavaca Despite the tough red-eye flight, we have arrived safely to our final destination - Iglesia Presbiteriana Emanuel de Cuernavaca (Cuernavaca Emmanuel Presbyterian Church). Praise the Lord! This is senior pastor Richardo and his lovely wife, Rebecca. We were welcomed so graciously by them and the church body. Upon arrival, we had lunch and brief orientation before splitting up into 6 different host families. The day 1 agenda that they had prepared for us was delicious local tacos for dinner and much needed rest from the travel. We are so thankful that God brought us here safely and we are looking forward to His plans unveiling in bringing us here to Cuernavaca to this specific church. Day 2 - Our First Full Day All of our six teams arrived back at church by 8AM local time (6AM California time). Though it was early morning back at home, there was sense of freshness and restfulness in our team's faces. We were quickly joined together by the local youth kids. Thus started our retreat together, where two different cultures came together under the Spirit of Christ, eager to learn from one another, fellowship in truth, and serve God's kingdom together. This is our pastor Richardo and the translator Naomi (Missionary Abe and Elaine's daughter). Main Session One of the small groups minus couple people. Small Group Blue Small Group Red Small group preparing for skit presentation. Missionaries Abe and Elaine + Manny, our youngest member. Breaking ice with some games. In the afternoons, we have ministry & outreach outings everyday. Today, we went to a local park to attract some other kids through various games of sports (volleyball, kickball, soccer) and to invite them to the retreat being held at the church. Rain did not hold us back too long before we ran out to the fields to play sports. Few Prayer Requests 1) We had few of our members not feeling well before departure and during out travel to Cuernavaca. Praise to God they are all doing well now. However, with rain the temperature has definitely dropped a bit. Please continue to pray for our health that no one will get sick and miss out on anything. 2) Please pray for us that we would know God's heart and His purpose in bringing us to Cuernavaca. We want to be sensitive to what He is doing here and we want to bless and encourage the believers here in the Lord. May we bring glory to Him as we submit to His leadership and direction over our team. 3) Before departure, we were constantly praying for unity of our team. Now that we are here, our prayers are changing to unity of believers, for the two church bodies to experience unity in the Spirit and enjoy fellowship in Christ. One of the biggest challenge is language barrier. Please pray that we will experience fellowship that goes beyond culture and language barriers. Thank you for your love and prayers!! 심인식Jul 27.2014 일본 선교에서의 기쁜 소식

이번 일본 선교에서는 하나님께 감사드리고 성도님을 기쁘게 할 좋은 소식이 있습니다. 저희가 방문했던 두 교회에모두에서 너무나도 귀한 아이들이 예수님을 영접하였습니다. 먼저 류가사키 교회에서 하나님을 영접한 미즈키를 소개합니다. 미즈키는 올 해로 3번째 VBS에 참가한 5학년의 학생입니다. 첫 해 레베카 자매님께서 만난 미즈키는 다른 보통의 남자 아이들과 다를바 없이 장난끼 많고 에너지가 넘치는 아이였습니다. 선생님들을 가끔 힘들게 하기도 했었죠. 두번째 참석한 VBS애서 수진 자매님이 기억한 미즈키도 많이 다르지 않은 장난끼 많은 아이었습니다. 하지만 이번에 만난 미즈키는 조금 달랐습니다. 예수님을 영접할 준비가 되어있었던 거지요. 수진 자매님을 비록한 저희들이 미즈키를 위해서 기도 했고, 저희가 떠나기 바로 전 미즈키는 예수님이 우리의 구제주임을 고백하고 예수님을 영접했습니다. 시부야 교회에서는 수진 자매님께서 담당하셨던 10명의 아이들 중 7아이들이 예수님을 영접했습니다. 특히 예수님의 탄생과 죽음, 그리고 부활을 잘 설명했던 마지막 크래프트를 통해 아이들이 예수님의 사랑과 능력을을 이해하고 깨달았으며 예수님이 구주세이심을 고백했습니다. 한 번 두 번도 아닌 4번의 확인에도 아이들의 고백은 흔들림이 없었습니다. 이 아이들이 자라면서 환경에 굴복하지 않고 예수님 안에서 성장할 수 있도록 많은 성도님들의 기도를 부탁합니다.

심인식Jul 26.2014 Japan Mission Team 2: Day 6

오늘은 VBS 마지막 날 입니다. 3일 동안 아이들이 하나님을 찬양하고 배운 것을 부모님들께 선 보이기 위해 열심히 연습 중입니다. 오늘도 역시 크래프트부터 게임 등으로 예수님을 배웁니다. Universal Language: 승.주.찬. 드디어 발표 시간. 아이들은 지난 3일 동안 배운 찬양과 찬무를 부모님께 선보이고 많은 부모님들이 참석하시고 즐거워 하셨습니다. 그저 발표로만 끝나는 것이 아니라 입으로 몸으로 주를 찬양한 아이들의 모습이 하늘이 닿아기를 기원합니다. 모든 프로그램을 마친뒤 저희 미션팀과 시부야 교회의 선생님들과 교재하고 서로 기도하고, 무사히 마무리 된 VBS를 위해 하나님께 감사드렸습니다. 히가시 키리메에서 2주 동안 열심히 아이들과 하나님을 섬기고 집으로 돌아가기전 시부야에서 함께 시간을 보냈습니다. 모자 상봉. 히가시 키리메에서 봉사했던 티모시와 현경 자매님이 만났습니다. 한 가족이 각각 다른 곳에서 아이들은 섬기고 만난 이 자리가 너무 의미있고 아름다은 곳이었습니다. 두 팀 모두 다 함께 마지막 예배를 드립니다. 모두 안전하게, 그리고 하나님의 역사하심으로 잘 마무리된 이 번 미션을 감사드리고, 은혜로운 경험을 함께 나누었습니다. 9_ 모두를 먹이기 위해 부대찌개를 만들어 주신 분을을 위해 감사의 마음을 전합니다. 김영길 목사님께 저희와 함께한 사진과 감사의 마음을 드렸습니다. 많은 서포트에 감사합니다.

시부야 교회에서의 VBS 둘째 날입니다. VBS 시작 전 연합 모임을 가졌고, 오늘은 특별히 목사님께서 서로 다른 곳에서 모인 저희들이 예수님 안에서 서로 사랑으로 섬기고 서로를 좀 더 알아가고, 기도 안에서 오늘 아이들을 섬기기를 소망하셨습니다. 선생님들과 아이들이 모두 함께 사진 찍는 시간을 가졌습니다. 아서 전도사님과 히로 전도사님이 예수님의 부활에 대하여 말씀을 전하셨고, 아이들도 무척이나 진지하게 말씀을 들었습니다. 설교 후 예수님의 부활에 관한 찬양을 열심이 따라 했고, 같은 주제로 즐겁게 예수님의 빈 무덤을 볼 수 있는 망원경을 만들었습니다. 사랑으로 점심을 섬기시는 성도님들을 소개하는 시간을 가졌습니다. 아이들을 데려가기 위해서 미리 오신 어머니들이 아이들이 찬양하는 모습과 인형극을 열심히 보는 아이들을 보셨습니다. 프로그램을 마치고 함께한 자리에서 오늘도 저희와 함께하신 하나님께 감사드리고, 특별히 선생님으로 저희를 위해 봉사해 주시는 마이크 목사님의 사역을 위하여 기도드렸습니다. 일본에서 교회 개척을 위해 힘쓰시는 마이크 목사님을 위해서 많은 성도님들의 기도를 부탁드립니다. VBS에서 봉사해주시는 많은 분들과 함께 추억을 담습니다.

오늘은 VBS 첫 날입니다. 어제 밤 늦게까지 데코레이션을 했음에도 불구하고 어김없이 이른 아침 예배로 하루를 시작합니다. VBS 시작이 10시지만 9시부터 아이들이 오기 시작했습니다. 일년 동안 기다린 여름 셩경 학교가 많이 기대되었나 봅니다. 기도와 찬양으로 VBS를 시작합니다. 선생님과 아이들이 서로서로를 알기위한 게임을 시작합니다. 가위, 바위, 보를 하면서 이긴 사람이 진 사람에게 스티커를 얼굴에 붙이고 있습니다. 조현도 선교사님께서 세례요한이 예수님 침례하는 모슴을 온몸으로 말씀을 전하고 있습니다. 나이별로 조를 만들고, 선생님들과 함께 인증샷! 즐거운 점심 시간입니다. 맛있는 버섯 하이라이스와 오징어 샐러드로 맛있는 점심을 먹었습니다. 준비해주신 손길에 감사드립니다. 간식은 시원하고 달콤한 수박! 게임 시간, 영차 영차, 우리 팀을 위해 열심히 뜁니다. 오늘 일정을 끝내고 헤어지기 전에 아메리칸 스따일로 허그 시간을 가졌습니다. 아이들을 보낸 후 팀원들과 하루를 돌아보고 기도로 마무리를 했습니다.

오늘은 시부야에서 VBS 첫 날 입니다. 아침 예배로 하루를 시작하고, 시부야 교회의 여러 선생님들과 VBS가 시작하기 전에 아이들을 위햐여 하나된 마음으로 기도드렸습니다. 올 해는 더 많은 아이들이 VBS를 찾았고, 그 중 많은 아이들은 작년 VBS에도 참가했던 아이들입니다. 비록 이 시간에 영어를 배우러 오는 아이들이 대부분이지만 하나님께서 아이들 하나 하나에게 계획하심이 있을 것을 믿습니다. 찬양으로 시부야 교회의 VBS를 시작했고, 다른 다양한 프로그램을 통하여 예수님에 대하여 배워가기 시작했습니다. 이런 작은 씨앗이 아이들이 성장하면서 같이 자라나고 언젠가 큰 열매를 맺는 귀한 시간이 되기를 소망합니다. 찬양과 말씀 후 아이들이 즐거운 놀이 시간과 간식 시간을 가졌습니다. 모든 프로그램을 마치고 마직막 찬양으로 VBS 첫 날을 잘 마무리 하였습니다. 오늘 하루도 하나님의 사랑으로 잘 마칠 수 있었음에 감사드리고, 내일은 하나님의 인도하심으로 더욱 잘 할 수 있도록 기도드렸습니다.

AmyJul 24.2014 JAPAN MISSON TEAM 1: DAY 10, 11 ☆☆☆

Please pray for us! Updates to come soon... Our drafts keep getting deleted after we type it up. T.T *** Please pray that our strength will be in Him Alone! We find that there is so much Joy when we look to Jesus regardless of how energy-less we find ourselves or how many obstacles appear before us. He really guides us to still waters! We're so excited but also so sad that tomorrow is the last day. Today, almost every hand was raised when we asked each of them if they wanted to know the person Jesus more. This question was asked after sharing about experiencing the power of Jesus' resurrection and really being made Alive in and with Christ completely and in all honesty, or in other words, in Church "adult-level" language. We're seeing that everyone's soul yearns to know his or her Creator and Heavenly Father, whether we're 2 or 5 or 27! It's so awesome to see that! Tomorrow, we're going to share about sharing blessings... sharing God. When we allow ourselves to receive from our Heavenly Father and know how He sees us day by day, we can share with those around us. One of our kids began doing that on his own actually! He took some of the teacher's "Neighbor" bracelets so that he can give them to his dad, mom, and grandma! So free~ *** Please pray that God would have His way! Please pray that we will not be concerned about doing anything "right" or "perfectly," as teachers, but that we would just have fun and allow God to pour into us how He sees us and how He loves us. We are so physically tired, but so alive tonight.. I even think we're falling in love with each other.. all our quirks and different personalities make for a diverse but complete family in Christ. 심인식Jul 23.2014 Japan Mission Team 2: Day 3

류가사키에서의 마지막 날 아침을 예배로 시작합니다. 어제 만난 천하보다 귀한 아이들을 위하여 온 마음으로 기도드리고, 또 VBS를 인도하고 있는 레베카 자매님을 위하여 기도합니다. 아이들이 하나하나 모여들고 VBS 찬양 전에 아침 체조와 재미있는 풍선 게임으로 몸과 마음을 준비하였습니다. 오늘도 아이들과 저희들을 위하여 점심을 준비해주시는 감사한 분들이지만 아직까지 예수님을 모르는 분들도 있습니다. 이분들과 일본땅을 위하여 많은 기도 부탁드립니다. 오늘도 찬양으로 VBS를 시작했고, 아이들이 예수님의 부활과 승천에 대한 말씀을 경청하고 있습니다. 설교 말씀을 바탕으로 예수님의 부활 후 빈 무덤의 모습을 망원경 안에 담았습니다. 마지막 찬양 후 VBS를 마치기 전 선생님들을 소개하는 시간을 가졌고 아이들이 따뜻한 호응으로 보답해 주었습니다. 차가운 자하수를 이용해서 소면을 위에서 아래로 흘러 보내는 나가시 소면으로 아이들과 함께 재미있고 즐거운 점심 시간을 가졌습니다. 손 목사님이 안전하게 도착하셨고, 류가사키를 떠나기 전 함께한 아이들을 위하여 기도를 인도하셨습니다. 시부야 교회에 도착한 후 내일 만날 아이들을 위해 기도 후 데코레이션을 시작하였고, 시부야 교회의 김영길 목사님과 사모님께서도 밤 늦게까지 수고해주셨습니다. 감사하게도 시부야 교회에서 저희에게 맛있는 저녁으로 환영해 주셨습니다. 손 목사님의 인도 하에 하루의 마지막 일정인 예배를 드리고, 특히 어려운 상황에서도 예수님을 섬기기 위해 선교를 오신 한 자매님을 위하여 기도드렸습니다. 암으로 생사가 불분명함에도 불구하고 예수님 영접을 거부하고 있는 아버지를 위하여 모든 성도님들의 중보가 절실히 필요합니다.

AmyJul 22.2014 Japan Mission Team 1: Day 9

Happy Tuesday! ♥ It's already the third day of our last week here in Higashikurume... We had the most kids we've ever had today! 27, about 30 kids with 10 solid teachers! It was a bit tough because we have less teachers than last week, but the many faces just give us joy. What's a little challenge~ ^O^ Two beautiful faces~ ^.^ We shared the same skit and similar message as last week! The kids were even more determined to say Yes! when we portrayed Jesus as Love, even with so many new kids today! Eating bread! Eating fish.. :) Our craft today was a camera that shows Jesus' life! From His birth to His death.. and resurrection! We had an AWESOME outing today!!! We got to visit one of surroundings rivers and walk through it. On the way home we also got to stop by a Christian bookstore.. It was so precious. It's actually closing down now because it wasn't doing too well.. but we know that God always has a plan. May we seek His face! Today, we'd like to make a shout-out to ASHLEY! She was a brave warrior today and got her wisdom tooth taken out! God is so good! We prayed for her this morning, and God told us she will be okay~ :) She is MORE than okay! Please pray that the pain she'll have tomorrow will not get in the way of the love she wants to give to the kids! We are about to meet for our night worship. We will be praying for you tonight, family! Please join us in prayer for this country.. we are learning so much, and we would still like to learn more! We're planning on having a city outing tomorrow to really see this country. Please pray that we'd have open eyes, ears, and hearts!!! AmyJul 21.2014 Japan Mission Team 1: Day 8

Greetings, family! ♥♥♥ Today was the first day of our second week here in Higashikurume! We're learning that when you follow Jesus, routine is not always the answer. We're learning to be flexible and open to new possibilities and continued adventure with the Lord! We caught some nice photos of Jin, today! Here are two. Hi Saenuri Family! Teacher Wall-E (Claire) is protecting me from all the paparazzi! - Jin Teacher Tiana (Victoria) joined us today!!! She is an amazing teacher, and we're so thankful for her. : ) We made kazoos during crafts time today.. Teacher Godzilla (Stanley) and Teacher Peter Pan (Chris) acted out John the Baptist baptizing Jesus today, and the kids made a joyful noise to understand that baptisms are celebrations.. especially in heaven! Maybe we understood too well... the sound of many kazoos kept ringing in our ears until after VBS. ^.^; We were invited to one of our student's ballet recitals this evening! Pastor Kang and SMN treated us to a home bbq tonight! The pork was so delicious, and we all enjoyed each other's company and the beautiful~ sunset. After our night worship, we had another outing to the supermarket to eat ice cream and encourage each other by word of mouth. It was a tiring day, but we are learning so much and having so much fun. Please pray that we will be healthy! Many of us have been struggling with different aches and pains recently. Ashley's bottom wisdom teeth are impacted (growing wrong), and her left wisdom tooth began to grow at a rapid pace last week.. her cheek has been swollen since and she has dealt with much pain. She will be going to the dentist tomorrow to have it checked! Sarah, along with all of us, has gotten bit by a lot of mosquitos. She, however, has allergies to the bites and one of her mosquito bites swelled up to be an oval larger than her hand. Nanyoung has been serving so much physically--helping with the Kang family and their physical labor. Her arms have been aching a lot, but she still persists to serve regardless. Please pray that they will find strength in the Lord and that God may heal them! Please pray that the rest of us will receive love from our God so that we can be vessels of His love and joy. : ) Please pray for our kids and their parents! Please pray for God's will to be done! Please pray that we will do our best! Please pray that we will learn more about being God's children. : ) We love you and Thank you, Stanley, Chris, Hannah, Timmy, Victoria, Sarah, Ashley, Claire, Nanyoung, and Amy

AmyJul 21.2014 Japan Mission Team 1: Day 7

Happy Lord's Day! (late post ^.^) We spent the morning and early afternoon with our family at Tokyo Vision Church. For most of the time we had together, we were given the opportunity to bless them! Here are a couple videos of what we did. Between singing a few VBS songs with the kids in the front and singing "How He Loves" to our family, Rachel and Melody blessed us! Ashley and Nanyoung also blessed us. ^.^ We then showed them our skit and shared about how Jesus always fights for us even after we have a relationship with Him, even after we are a Christian... He loves us so much and protects us. After, Pastor Kang shared with us about what God's love puts courage in us to do... to share His love. He really encouraged our team and thanked us for coming as family physically, not just spiritually! We then ate together the awesome food that the moms and Pastor Kang's family prepared. : ) For the rest of the evening, we had a team outing to walk around a bit of Higashikurume and eat donuts at Mister Donut! We took photos with "the famous red wall." ^_^ It started raining later! The weather was so beautiful... We were able to appreciate so much of God's masterpiece this day. : ) To another beautiful day~
